Dressed in beautiful outfits and hats, the women enjoyed an afternoon of fun, connection and reflection, looking back on the past six months and celebrating their personal journeys. We were also encouraged by Dr Catherine to stay positive and look forward to the next six months with hope, confidence and purpose.
Against all ODD's.
Our brilliant speaker shared honest reflections and practical insights that encouraged us as women to stop shrinking, trust our voices, and give ourselves permission to grow with confidence against all ODD's. The conversations in the room were inspiring, uplifting, and deeply empowering.
What continues to make these sessions special is the safe and supportive space we have built together. Every month, more than 30 women come together through Angels of Hope to connect, learn, share experiences, and support one another without judgement.
Creating spaces where women feel heard, valued, and empowered is so important, and it is amazing to see the strength, resilience, and encouragement that comes from women supporting women
Becoming Architects of the World We Want
Our theme, “Becoming Architects of the World We Want,” encouraged us to reflect on the power of lived experience, community leadership, and the change we can create together.
One message stood out strongly throughout the session: NO MORE SHRINKING.
No more shrinking our voices, our dreams, our ideas, or our potential. Women deserve to take up space, lead with confidence, and recognise the value they bring to their communities and the world.
The women shared powerful stories, ideas, and visions for a future where communities are stronger, voices are heard, and everyone has the opportunity to thrive. We explored how our experiences can shape services, influence decisions, and build a more inclusive and compassionate world.
A special thank you to Shamime Jan for delivering such an empowering and thought-provoking session. Your words, encouragement, and leadership inspired us all and reminded us of the strength that already exists within our communities.
Thank you to every woman who attended, contributed, and supported one another. Together, we are becoming leaders, changemakers, and architects of a better future.

5K run at MediaCity
What started as group runs in our local park in Gorton has grown into a powerful achievement—today, many of the women took part in a 5K run at MediaCity. For most, this was their first official run, turning what once felt like a distant dream into a real and empowering accomplishment.
This journey has been about more than physical activity. It has been about building confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of community. The women have supported and motivated one another every step of the way, showing what is possible when we invest in each other.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Sport England for sponsoring our running project, and to Salford CVS for supporting our walking group. Your support is enabling women to achieve goals they once thought were out of reach.
This is what community-led empowerment looks like—and we are just getting started.

Completion of the Angels of Hope Walking Project
What began as a simple weekly walking group grew into something far more meaningful. Women came together not only to improve their physical health, but to build confidence, form genuine connections, and create a sense of belonging.
Throughout the project, we saw powerful outcomes — women overcoming isolation, supporting one another, and taking positive steps towards healthier lifestyles. For many, this was their first step into prioritising their wellbeing, and the impact has been both personal and long-lasting.
We’re also grateful to Manchester Parks for kindly sponsoring refreshments throughout the project, helping create a warm and welcoming space for everyone involved.
At Angels of Hope, we believe in the strength of community and the importance of creating safe, supportive spaces for women to grow. This project has been a clear example of what can be achieved when women are given the opportunity and encouragement to thrive.
We would like to thank Salford CVS for their support in making this initiative possible.
While the funded project has now come to an end, the movement continues. Our weekly sessions will carry on, ensuring that the women who have been part of this journey can keep building on the progress they’ve made.

Leadership Programme Launch.
We were inspired by powerful stories from our guest speaker Sharon Amesu and keynote speaker Catherine Sampa Muyeba, who shared their personal journeys of resilience, purpose, and leadership. Their experiences deeply resonated with the women in the room and sparked a renewed sense of confidence and possibility.
The launch marked the beginning of a 14-month journey of learning, empowerment, and impactful conversations, supporting women to step into leadership through the power of lived experience.
We are grateful to The National Lottery Community Fund for generously sponsoring this programme.
Leadership Programme
Through interactive workshops, peer learning, and practical leadership tools, participants will build confidence, strengthen decision-making skills, and explore pathways into advocacy, community leadership, and entrepreneurship. This programme creates a safe and supportive space where lived experience is valued as expertise — equipping women not just to overcome challenges, but to lead beyond them.
We are grateful to The National Lottery Community Fund for generously sponsoring this programme and investing in the leadership potential of women in our community.
Behold the birth of the Athletic Angels Running Programme!
Research continues to show that Black women face unique and often intensified barriers to participating in sport (UK Sport, 2020). Athletic Angels was born to challenge those barriers—creating space where women feel seen, supported, and strong.

Creating Safe Spaces: Ruth Mbera Delivers Key Talk on Domestic Abuse.
Ruth Mbera is known for her many contributions to the communities of Greater Manchester. This time, she attended our Coffee Morning session to deliver an important session on Domestic Violence as part of our Safe Spaces program, which is sponsored by the Greater Manchester Police ARIS Fund.
Ruth outlined the various forms of abuse that can occur within households, including sexual, physical, financial, emotional, and technology-facilitated abuse such as stalking on social media. The session was highly interactive, with women sharing their experiences and highlighting how domestic violence affects not only the survivor but also those around them, especially children.
The key takeaway was that support is available for anyone experiencing abuse. Equally important was the reminder that we must look out for one another—particularly our sisters—by recognising the signs of struggle and offering support where we can.

Staff Training Day for Future Planning
Staff training day is essential for strengthening the quality, consistency, and long-term direction of our organisation. It allows the whole team to step away from day-to-day service delivery and focus on strategic planning, skill development, and improving how we support the people who rely on us. By investing this time, we ensure staff are aligned with our goals, understand upcoming priorities, and are equipped with the knowledge and confidence to deliver high-quality, safe, and effective support.
Training days also boost staff wellbeing and retention. For a community-based service like ours, this directly translates into better outcomes for the families and women we work with.
Planning together as a team helps us identify emerging needs, strengthen safeguarding practices, and innovate our programmes so we remain responsive and sustainable. Ultimately, a staff training day is not a pause in productivity—it is a vital investment in our future impact.
